Meet Mary!

We would like to introduce the newest addition to our team. You will be seeing Mary Dillon when you stop by our store. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and very talented. She was gracious enough to answer some questions so that we can all get to know her better.

A little something about Mary...😀

Yax & Roo: How old were you when you started knitting?

Mary: I was about 10 or 11 years old. My mom bought me a book and some knitting needles and yarn and I taught myself and the rest is history..

Yax & Roo: Do you do any other fiber crafts other than knitting?

Mary: I also crochet, spin yarn and am learning to weave.

Yax & Roo: What is your go to pattern?

Mary: I do have a few go to patterns...one is the drop stitch cowl by Abi Gregorio and another would be Quaking Aspen Cowl by Petra Marcelle both are paid patterns from Ravelry. I do have so many others but both of those come to mind.

Yax & Roo: What color inspires you the most?

Mary: I do love the color purple...need I say more...

Yax & Roo: What are you currently working on?

Mary: I am finishing up some last minute Christmas presents so I can not say... yet

Yax & Roo: What fiber art are you currently learning?

Mary: I am learning to weave on a floor loom. I have done some projects but there is so much more to learn. I do have an Erica table loom currently but really love the 4 shaft floor loom.

Yax & Roo: Who is your source of inspiration for your designs?

Mary: I take my weaving classes in Westmont with Tammy. Tammy is an excellent fiber artist and the best teacher. Extremely patient

Yax & Roo: If there was a yarn genie which fiber would you wish for and what would you create with it?

Mary: Oh, if only there was a yarn genie.....I do love any sheep fiber and any alpaca...but then there is mulberry silk and yak. and then cashmere....oh my ...I would love to make a blanket with any and all of those fibers...so if there is a yarn genie I hope he has heard me..

Yax & Roo: How awesome are your new co-workers? 😉

Mary: My co-workers are the best...this is a wonderful place to work... a great new addition for Palos Heights. To have a yarn shop such as this in the south suburbs with such great selections is a real treat.

Welcome Mary!
